What is Microdermabrasion?

A physical exfoliation and skin rejuvenating procedure utilizing a diamond tip and suction to remove the outer most surface layer of dead skin cells. This procedure improves texture and removes debris, scars, blemishes, wrinkles and uneven pigmentation of the skin.

-Extraction of blackheads and whiteheads

-Improvement of overall skin health

-Minimization of blotchy skin coloring

-Reduces acne and superficial scares

-Reduces age spots

-Reduces oily skin

-Rejuvenation of sun damaged skin

-Avoid sun exposure (and tanning beds)

-Avoid waxing, electrolysis, hair removal creams, and laser hair removal treatments

-Discontinue use of of Retinol, Vitamin A, or Retin-A topical medication for 1 week

-Do not receive neuromodulators or dermal fillers 2 weeks prior

-Do not have a facial or peel treatment 2-4 weeks prior

-Inform your aesthetician of any medications you take

-Any bacterial or viral infections affecting the skin- such as impetigo, flat warts, and herpes simplex (these must be controlled with systemic therapy prior to undergoing microdermabrasion)

-Accutane: 6 months off

-Facial surgery within the past 2 months

-History of hypertrophic scarring anywhere on the body

-Isotretinoin: 6 months off

-Radiation therapy to the head

1 hour

Little to no downtime

-Apply sunscreen daily

-Avoid scratching, peeling, and picking

-Avoid topical acne medications for at least 1 day after treatment

-Use recommended post care products
